Hello Reader, The London Walking Festival starts this week! We have an amazing selection of free events to join and it all starts on Thursday evening at the London National Park City Visitor Centre – 80 Mortimer Street. Thursday 1st May – 6pm till 9pm Launch evening at The London National Park City Visitor Centre Join us at the Visitor Centre for drinks to celebrate the London Walking Festival launch. Friday 2nd May – 10:30 till 16:45 New perspectives on walking and wheeling in the city: a conference Spend the day hearing from researchers, practitioners and policymakers who are making strides in the field of walking and wheeling. Hosted by Active Travel Academy, University of Westminster. Saturday 3rd May – 11am till 4pm Peckham Rye to Crystal Palace Join Walking Class hero Des for this walk from Peckham Rye to Crystal Palace. If you’ve already completed the Green Link Walk then you’ll enjoy this secret extra leg to the route. Sunday 4th May – 11am till 3pm Wimbledon Park Station to Richmond Section Capital Ring Our Rangers will be leading this walk from Wimbledon Park Station to Richmond along Section 6 of the Capital Ring. This 11km walk features amazing green spaces, lakes and wildlife. Sunday 4th May – 11am till 6pm Beverley Brook walk with ESEA Outdoors Explore on of London’s lost walking routes along Beverly Brook. This walk is for anyone of East or South East Asian (ESEA) Heritage. Thursday 8th May – 10am and 11am How to walk for better health and happiness with Annabel Abbs Next week we’ll be hosting Annabel Abbs, author of 52 Ways to Walk and The Walking Cure at the Visitor Centre.
