Hello Reader 2024 is definitely a year where we picked up the pace in London National Park City and we're looking forward to a well deserved break over the holidays, having celebrated the fifth anniversary of London becoming the world's first National Park City over the summer. We're now part of a growing movement around the world with Adelaide National Park City recently celebrating it's third anniversary, and we're looking forward to Breda, Chattanooga, Glasgow and Southampton all joining the fold in 2025. We're incredibly grateful for all the support, inspiration, and dedication from our amazing volunteers, individual supporters, and each of you who help make London National Park City. We have one last ask before we wrap everything up for 2024 if you can be part of our final crowdfunder of the year which closes in less than 24 hours at midday on Christmas Eve.
The funding we raise from individual donations such as yours is critical to directly support the projects that our Rangers lead on within neighbourhoods across London. Each of our 130 Rangers is drawn from and active within their community - your support helps each of our Rangers be more impactful and helps connect hundreds more Londoners with urban nature. Anything you can chip in will go along way to helping us realise our long-term goal of a volunteer Ranger in every London neighbourhood. Not only is every individual or business donation is doubled, but we can claim an extra 20% through Gift Aid on top with every personal donation as well. Racing in to 2025All of this support is going to help us get off to the best possible start in 2025. We’re excited to be opening our new venue at 80 Mortimer Street, just up from Oxford Circus with a busy programme of public events starting in late January. Our first Visitors Centre at 109 Fleet Street earlier this year was a successful live experiment on establishing a community space to introduce London National Park City to the wider public, and we're planning more of the same with dozens of events and festival weeks in planning for the year ahead. Next year is going to be all about our Rangers whose stories you can read on our blog. We've just appointed our new Community Director, Becky Daniels, who's going to be supporting each of our volunteers to be more impactful within their own community. To that end in 2025 we'll be rolling out:
More to come on all of this, and to help us do all of this we're going to need a bit of extra help so we have two contract vacancies open if you know anyone who might like to apply: Apply to be our full-time Programme Manager (15 month contract) Apply to be our part-time Ranger Coordinator in Hounslow (9 month contract) Thank you for being part of our journey so far, and I do hope we'll see you in person at 80 Mortimer Street when it opens, at one of our festival weeks through the summer, or getting involved in some of our Ranger led projects. Have a wonderful restful time over the festive period, and best of luck for a great start to the new year. All the best Mark
