Ditch Black Friday. Here's some culture, art and music instead

Hello Reader

Are you suffering from a strange compulsion to just buy lots of stuff for no reason? Then if you’re anything like us you’ve probably been bombarded with thousands of Black Friday messages to grab bargains for stuff you don't need whilst you can.

Fortunately there are alternatives. Here are a few we think you'll like...

Watch ACTionisim

A few years ago our friends at Re-Action Collective started a small but beautiful campaign called Citizen Friday and we’re excited that their ACTionism film is being released at waterbear.com/title/actionism, so you can catch this beautiful short film online for free.

Money Trees: I’m A Ghost Now, Look How You Hold Me

This weekend we’ll be attending Money Trees: I’m a Ghost Now, Look How You Hold Me a new solo exhibition by artist Rachy McEwan who appeared on a recent edition of our Do London Differently podcast.

This new body of work pairs oil-on-canvas paintings with their digital counterparts, each derived from 3D scans of London trees that have been felled or forgotten, which grew out of Money Trees—a platform connecting digital tree assets to real-world tree care.

The show is on at 309 Bethnal Green Rd from 27th to 30th November.

Visit Louis VI at the Barbican Conservatory

Due to popular demand, NATURE AIN’T A LUXURY returns to the Barbican Conservatory next weekend on 6th and 7th December.

Travelling to three Indigenously stewarded locations, Sarayaku, (Amazon) Raja Ampat (West Papua) & Waitukubuli (aka Dominica), Musician & Zoologist Louis VI recorded hours of high-fidelity 360° immersive audio, capturing the shifting textures of these ecosystems at their most sonically active using microphones modelled on human hearing.
